One to One Course
This unique intensive course gives those students who want individual tuition the opportunity to construct a guitar to thier own specifications, whether they are beginners or have made guitars in the past. For those with more experience there will be the opportunity to concentrate on specific aspects of making that are challenging and learn ways to overcome and enhance their work.
In this Spanish guitar making course the student will construct a classical or flamenco guitar from planks of wood without using kits or any pre-fabricated components.
The course runs for 4 weeks from Mondays to Fridays
Dates for 2012
- Course No 1: 5th – 30th of March
- Course No 2: 2nd – 27th of April
- Course No 3: 2nd – 27th of July
Prices
The cost of the guitar making course is £3,500 which includes materials, but not accomodation.
An initial deposit of £500 will be required to secure a place on the course, a second payment of £1000 is to be paid before the end of the month prior to the course and the final payment of £2000 will be paid at the beginning of the course.
Location
The course will take place in Pablo’s workshop in Plumpton Green, East Sussex, a beautful village located 1 hour away from London, 20 minutes from Brighton, and 10 minutes from the historic town of Lewes.

Course Content
In this One to One Spanish guitar making course the student will build a classical or a flamenco guitar using traditional construction techniques. This will include building with a Solera mould, the Spanish neck/body join and bracing systems and making a rosette to your own design. During the course we will also be discussing subjects that include timber selection, construction systems, jig making, varnishes and tools. We will also be visiting a local guitar making timber suppliers to select the timber you will be using to build your guitar.
The materials included are:
For a Classical Guitar:
- Indian rosewood back and sides, bridge and head plate
- German spruce or cedar for the soundboard
- Cedrela for the neck
- Ebony fingerboard
- Fusteros machine heads or similar
- Hard case (Hiscox or similar)
For a Flamenco Guitar:
- Cypress or Indian rosewood back and sides
- German spruce or cedar for the soundboard
- Cedrela for the neck
- Ebony fingerboard
- Fusteros machine heads or similar
- Hard case (Hiscox or similar)
Any other timbers could be supplied if arranged in advance at an addition cost (if required).
